Overview
The CSSD Learning Modules is a learning initiative by Healthcare Skill Council where 3M India is the Technical Guidance Collaborator. This course is designed to provide participants a thorough understanding of the principles, practices, and importance of the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) in healthcare facilities. The courses are curated to help participants understand the principles behind cleaning and disinfection. The course covers the best practices which can be implemented in hospitals around sterilization practices, monitoring, instrument tracking, storage and handling. By the end of this course, participants will be able to understand the full workflow of CSSD (from Cleaning to sterilization and distribution).
Assessment
Post completion of the 7 modules, participants will have to take the assessment
All participants who have scored 80% and above will be given course completion certificates

This CSSD Learning module offers 7 training modules which covers all critical aspects of instrument reprocessing. Topics include standards and guidelines, cleaning and decontamination, sterilization methods, quality indicators, and sterile storage. The course is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of CSSD personnel, ensuring compliance with best practices and promoting patient safety through effective sterilization processes.
Curriculum
Learn the regulatory, evidence based National and International guidelines for the sterilization processes along with examples of regulations from key groups and importance of product performance certifications
Understand cleaning and decontamination of instruments in terms of practices for different modes of cleaning with an insight into the right chemicals for surgical instrument cleaning. An insight into the use of PPE and cleaning verification will be covered as well
Explore the best practices for packaging and right packaging for the right sterilization method. Details of correct preparation and loading of medical devices to be covered
A thorough understanding of the principle of action of high temperature – Steam and low temperature sterilization technologies available today.
Learn the different sterilization monitoring devices available like Physical monitors, Chemical indicators, Biological indicators and the recommended frequency of usage as per international standards and guidelines
Explore the best practices around Sterile Storage area highlighting the standards, contamination prevention strategies and documentation importance
Understand the CSSD zoning requirements, personnel safety and training for personnel.

The course has 7 modules , each module is approximately 45 min to 1hour. Total 6 to 7 hours
Upon completion of the 7 modules, participants will have to take the assessment. All participants who have scored 80% and above will be given course completion certificates
Certificate is valid for 2 years
