Curriculum

This module introduces the structure, layout, and functioning of the Operation Theatre. Learners will understand the role, responsibilities, and professional conduct expected of an OT nurse within the surgical team.

This module focuses on cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of surgical instruments. Emphasis is placed on infection prevention, sterilization methods, and compliance with standard protocols.

This module covers identification and selection of instruments based on surgical procedures. Learners will understand proper setup of Mayo tables, back tables, and preparation of procedure-specific instrument trays.

This module trains learners in safe and efficient instrument passing techniques and suturing assistance. It emphasizes anticipation of surgical needs, coordination with the surgeon, and maintaining sterility.

This module explains techniques to assist in hemostasis and maintain a clear surgical field. Learners will also understand sponge counts, protection of the surgical site, and prevention of retained surgical items.

This module focuses on patient positioning, surgical safety checklists, aseptic techniques, and prevention of surgical site infections. Emphasis is placed on teamwork and communication for patient safety.

This module covers post-operative handling of instruments, specimen management, OT documentation, and handover responsibilities. Learners will understand the importance of accurate records and continuity of care.
