Overview


The Basic Cardiopulmonary Life Support (BCPLS) Instructor course is a nationally recognized program designed to prepare healthcare professionals and certified BCPLS providers to deliver high-quality life support training. Delivered in a fully virtual mode, the course focuses on instructional skills, adult learning principles, structured demonstration of BCPLS techniques, and assessment methodologies aligned with nationally accepted guidelines.

Completion of the online modules leads to certification of the virtual BCPLS Instructor learning component only. To obtain BCPLS Instructor certification and become a part of the HSSC Instructor Community, candidates are required to mandatorily attend and successfully complete an instructor-led, hands-on training and assessment session conducted at the Healthcare Sector Skill Council’s Advance Technology Centre (HSSC ATC), a high-fidelity simulation laboratory. This blended approach ensures both instructional competence and practical mastery of life-saving skills.

Description

This nationally recognized BCPLS Instructor course is delivered in virtual mode and focuses on instructional techniques, adult learning principles, and effective delivery of BCPLS training. Attendance and successful completion of the instructor-led hands-on training and assessment at HSSC ATC is mandatory to be awarded the BCPLS Instructor certificate. Curriculum

This module introduces the role, scope, and responsibilities of a BCPLS Instructor. It provides an overview of national BCPLS standards, professional conduct, and the expectations from an instructor delivering life support training.

This module focuses on adult learning principles and effective training methodologies used in skill-based education. Learners will understand different learning styles, engagement techniques, and methods to create an interactive and learner-centered training environment.

This module reviews core BCPLS concepts and skills, including adult, child, and infant CPR, airway management, and choking management. Emphasis is placed on correct technique, sequence, and guideline-based practice for effective instruction.

This module covers planning and delivering BCPLS training sessions, including lesson planning, skill demonstration, and return demonstration techniques. Learners will develop confidence in explaining and demonstrating life-saving skills clearly and accurately.

This module explains assessment methods for evaluating BCPLS knowledge and skills, including OSCE-based assessments. It also covers providing constructive feedback, maintaining training records, and documentation required for instructor-led programs.

This module involves instructor-led, hands-on training and assessment conducted at the HSSC Advance Technology Centre (ATC), a high-fidelity simulation lab. Successful completion of this module is mandatory for the award of the BCPLS Instructor certificate.
